"Strange thing, time. It weighs most on those who have it least. Nothing is lighter than being young with the world on your shoulders; it gives you a feeling of possibility so seductive, you know there must be something more important you could be doing than studying for exams." -Rule of Four. Thanks for dropping by. Have a great week ahead!

Firefox crashed…for the nth time!

Posted by kai under Uncategorized

firefox crash

I happily browsing through some pages and blogs using Mozilla Firefox 3.0.11 when suddenly my tabs closed. Then I saw that image above from Firefox. I said, “Okay, it crashed again”, and clicked restore previous session. This wasn’t the first time I have encountered such glitch in Firefox, so I patiently waited until my previously viewed pages load. Then again, just right after all the pages loaded, it crashed again. I think you know what I did again. I restarted firefox, it crashed, restarted, then crashed, and the cycle continued. Then I decided to print+screen the firefox crash message and blog about it. I waited a little longer to restart my Firefox, and voila, it’s okay now. The next big question is: When will it crash again? ^^ Please leave a comment or participate in my poll below.

Quiet Time.

Posted by kai under blahgs!

Jenai asked me a very odd question last week. “Kaix, when was the last time you stayed inside the realms of your home and did nothing but spend your time freely?” These weren’t her exact words, really, but it tells just the same message. I wasn’t able to escape such question for I wasn’t armed enough to give an answer. So I asked myself the same thing…”Kaix, when did you last stay home, took a little pause from your overly-crazy-working-schedule, and just eat, chill, and rest?”

If there was ever a day such as that, maybe it was a very long time ago too. I felt sad about that thought, so I yearned for my quiet time and my own space.

I was supposed to spend my solitude yesterday. I planned to not to attend church on that day for I will just stay at home, read the Bible, and talk to my God in my silence and solitude…But things didn’t work out as I planned it to be. My boss, Morris, asked me to hold my piano classes on Sunday because I’d be absent on my Saturday classes due to the wedding I have to attend. I worked on a Sunday for the first time in my teaching career. Gugh. But thanks be to St. Peter! Since it’s St. Peter’s fiesta today, we’re not asked to work. My planned quiet time last Sunday was moved today. Thank you Lord.

How did I spend my quiet time?

I watched videos of Michael Jackson from Youtube.
I downloaded songs from 2NE1 and Wondergirls.
I wrote more than five blog entries.
I had my siesta.
I ate breakfast, lunch, afternoon snack, and will be eating dinner in a little while.
I played with Lola’s golden retriever.
I texted until I ran out of prepaid credits.
I took quizzes from facebook.
I ate almost a whole bunch of yellow bananas.
I drank two servings of Yakult and ate Mr. Chips.
and..
Did some of my laundry.

^^

Today’s June 29, and I stayed home all day. Yey. Thanks to Jenai for telling me to slow down.

Akong uyamot nga piano skills.^^

Posted by kai under blahgs!

Mom was asking me last night about how much I am earning per day in my job as a piano teacher. Of course I can’t tell her every bit of detail about my salary for she might abduct me every payday! hehe. But the truth is, I am really happy about my salary. Period. It’s just enough, decent, and kind of worth my skills and time. I reassured my Mom that I do not belong to the category of “overworked yet underpaid” citizens of the country. I said to her, “Ma, sa akong uyamot nga piano skills, kinsa guy magtuo nga maka-kwarta ko ani?”. Then we both laughed. Dad joined the laughing spree upon hearing me say that.

To my ‘rents: I know you’re a bit worried because I am *ehem* *ehem* over working, but be very assured that I am doing just fine.

Gone too soon.

Posted by kai under blahgs!

I grew up listening to Michael Jackson’s songs, so his death really is a huge “shocker”. So today, I planned to include viewing his videos from Youtube in my quiet time. I am sharing this vid here at twistedrumbeats.

Like A Comet
Blazing ‘Cross The Evening Sky
Gone Too Soon

Like A Rainbow
Fading In The Twinkling Of An Eye
Gone Too Soon

Shiny And Sparkly
And Splendidly Bright
Here One Day
Gone One Night

Like The Loss Of Sunlight
On A Cloudy Afternoon
Gone Too Soon

Like A Castle
Built Upon A Sandy Beach
Gone Too Soon

Like A Perfect Flower
That Is Just Beyond Your Reach
Gone Too Soon

Born To Amuse, To Inspire, To Delight
Here One Day
Gone One Night

Like A Sunset
Dying With The Rising Of The Moon
Gone Too Soon

Gone Too Soon

He performed this piece, “Gone too soon”, in front of former US President Bill Clinton and his wife, and in front of hundreds of people in US in the year 1992. Little did he know that 17 years later, this piece of his will be performed at his own funeral.

Michael Jackson, wherever you are right now, I know you’re being held in God’s hands. Thank you for your music. Thank you for setting a great example as a musician, as a performer, and as a person. Thank you for being an advocate of peace, for teaching us kids on how to sing beautifully, for teaching and inspiring people like Garry Valenciano and Charice Pempengco on their dance moves, and for showing that people can still play like kids and ride the ferris wheel even at fifty. Know that you will always be remembered. How I wish I can play one of your music pieces on our recital this September.

Again, so long.

AKO MISMO.

Posted by kai under blahgs!

I joined the movement of “AKO MISMO” just today. I know it is for a good and positive cause, so I participated. I hope all the Filipinos out there who have heard about this movement will participate. It only takes less than 5 five minutes of your internet time to fill out the form. If your internet connection is better than mine, it may just take you a minute or two to sign up! So visit www.akomismo.org now, fill out the Commitment form, and start taking your part as a Filipino citizen. I can’t wait to get my AKO MISMO dog tag. It’s for Php40 only. It’s even cheaper than my favorite chicken sandwich meal at McD’s.

Are you willing to make your Commitment to the Philippines? Fill in this space: AKO MISMO _________. Mine’s down below.

Michael Jackson: Dead at 50.

Posted by kai under blahgs!

michael jackson

This might be one of the biggest hit in the history of 2009: the King of Pop’s death. He died because of cardiac arrest at the UCLA hospital. Well at least he didn’t die in a (more) scandalous way. God bless his soul. UHhmm..I was looking forward to see his last concert (of course thru tv), but unfortunately, it will not happen anymore. He’s dead now.

Maybe he’ll be in TIME Magazine’s People of the Year. So long, thriller.

Quickpressing from Neo Care Davao City

Posted by kai under Uncategorized

Yellow folks! Since I don’t know how to use the internet through my cellphone yet, I am droppin’ a quickpress from Neo Care NCCC Mall of Davao using one of their latest notebooks. How I wish I can buy something like this someday so my P33chy wouldn’t be so lonely. :) So thanks to kuya Patrick for letting me use this computer every time I come by.. ^^ He’s btw the manager of this Neo Branch.

I just bought a new pair of shoes, thanks to Lola’s sponsorship. hehe. ^^

Lola and I went out of the house at a very early time this morning so we could be catered in Dr. Torno’s clinic at LIMSO Medical Hospital. Luckily, we arrived there early even if we only used a PUJ to get there (we usually take a taxi ride whenever we go downtown). The doctor arrived after more than an hour of waiting and we have to wait for about ….. wait..

Jenai’s already here… gotta run.. Ill finish this post later. ^^

uhmm. Happy 23rd birthday to my dear friend Yvette Joanna Faustino Gelacio!

Greenpeace Philippines.

Posted by kai under blahgs!

When I walked in at NCCC Mall of Davao last week with Janly, I saw this really interesting green booth at the mall’s atrium. When I read it’s GREENPEACE, I literally ran excitedly towards it while tagging Janly along with me. and uhm.. I excitedly inquired about the Greenpeace Org here in the Philippines and how will I be able to participate. To give you a background, I joined the mailing list of Greenpeace.org last October. Since that time, I have been receiving a number of updates from them… but the updates and invitations for Greenpeace activities were all being done outside of the Philippines, so I can’t personally participate.

greenpeace

So I asked that Greenpeace Phils guy at the booth on how I can actively participate in the organization because I am really interested about it. I was surprised with his response. He gave me this form which I am to fill up, and with it, I am to write my card number/account number so they could charge me like Php350 a month. Just imagine my surprise after hearing this. Php350’s not a huge amount really. It’s only like treating four of your friends to a decent dinner at Mandarin Tea Garden…but man, Php350 per month’s a different story. Plus, they’re like asking you to channel your precious bank account to their org so they could charge you monthly—what the heck?!. My bank account’s been fed up of online banking transactions, etc so I don’t think I am up for it.

and boy…

I don’t want to become Greenpeace Phil’s financial supporter/sponsor. I want to use my hands and my brains to participate and contribute in the wellness of our Mother Earth—free of charge. I want to know how I can actively be a part of their movement and not just direct my 350-peso hard-earned money to their org each month. Hay.. but I still had the room for explanations from that guy at the booth. So I asked the perks that I am to get if I fill out that form…and he gave me the lamest things I have heard that day.

1. I will get a greenpeace philippines sticker.
2. I will be issued a greenpeace philippines ID, which according to him, will help me get through consuls if I want to travel in US, etc. gugh.
3. I will receive emails and updates.

So when I said that I don’t care about getting a sticker and an ID (and the perks of getting that ID), and that all I want to know is how I can participate without paying those monthly fees, he gave me no answer. Maybe you can’t participate at Greenpeace Phils if you don’t pay those monthly fees, eh? I am not sure, but I wish somebody will reply to this post to clear things up. hehe. I told the guy I haven’t paid any single cent when I enlisted online at greenpeace.org and yet I am receiving updates from them. I also asked him if they already built an office or a Greenpeace center here in Davao or at least have environmental movements which are done (and will be doing in the next months to come), but he said there are no activities and no Greenpeace offices. The heck. So I told Janly we’ll leave and eat dinner. Sayang.
